Maryland Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) -- a Department of Defense agency -- recently presented Steve Chafitz, President, e-End, with a Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of his employee serving in the Maryland Guard and Reserve.
"The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation's call to serve," said Ron Pitts, Western Region Chair.
Chafitz was nominated for being highly supportive of the Reserve by his Reserve Component employee, Spc. Zachary Strausbough. "Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation's Guard and Reserve units."
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972 to develop and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service. ESGR advocates relevant initiatives, recognizes outstanding support, increases awareness of applicable laws, and resolves conflict between service members and employers. Paramount to ESGR's mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
